Pearl of Mallorca
This beautiful place is one of the most popular family resorts, and it offers great activities, beaches, bars and restaurants. The surroundings are a paradise for cyclists and hikers. A beautiful walk is a hike across the Formentor Peninsula, which is a paradise for ornithologists and lovers of wild nature. The Sierra de Tramuntana mountains are declared as Unesco World Heritage site under the Cultural landscape category. The beach in Puerto Pollensa is fabulous. It is long, white and deep. Made of golden sand, and protected in the bay from strong winds. So the Mediterranean water is lovely clean and warm.
Puerto Pellensa was originally a North Majorcan fishing village, so it still features a large marina which nowadays harbours leisure boats. However, there are still some traditional boats, used by Mallorians for catching fish. There are a range of watersports available, like kayaking, banana boats or parasailing. Also there are many scuba diving excursions.
Puerto Pollensa retains the time old tradition of the evening paseo. On warm evenings everyone wanders up and down between the marina where the yachts are mores, and the celebrated Pine Walk.
